Dear Mr. Burgener:
The Board of Directors of the South Tahoe Public
Utility District urge your support in obtaining legislation
to appropriate the $2.4 billion for fiscal year 1982
Construction Grants Program.
The District is now in its fifth year of the Grants
Program and we have major treatment plant improvements in
design.
Delay in appropriating construction grant funding will
result in a backlog of projects awaiting grant assistance, and
delay in proceeding with the South Tahoe treatment plant improve-
ments.
A delay will result in higher construction costs and
an increased risk of pollution of Lake Tahoe, due to a break-
down at the old treatment plant.
Attached is a Resolution by the Board of Directors
urging the Congress and the Administration to appropriate the
construction funds.
