Resolution 2238 RESOLUITON NO. 2 2 3 8 A RESOLUITON OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE SOUTH TAHOE PUBLIC UTILITY DISTRICT URGING THE CONGRESS AND THE ADMINISTRA- TION TO APPROPRIATE $2.4 BILLION FOR FISCAL YEAR 1982 - CONSTRUC- TION GRANTS PROGRAM PL97-117 WHEREAS, on December 14, 1981, the Congress approved HR 4503 to amend the Federal Water Pollution Control Act, and WHEREAS, the President signed the Legislation on December 29, 1981, and HR 4503 has now become Public Law 97-117, and WHEREAS, Public Law 97-117 contains the "Reforms" in the Construction Grants Program requested by the Administration, and WHEREAS, Public Law 97-117 provides for $2.4 billion for the Construction Grants Program in fiscal year 1982, and WHEREAS, the Congress must now approve an appropriation bill so that construction grant funds will be available during fiscal year 1982, and WHEREAS, there are many water quality improvement projects on the California Grants Priority List that cannot proceed without the Federal Grants appropriations, and WHEREAS, the reliability improvements at the South Tahoe Public Utility District wastewater treatment plant are under design after a four year delay for planning and environmental studies, and WHEREAS, construction of the improvements at the South Tahoe treatment plant will be delayed if the Federal Construction Grant Appropriations are not provided, and WHEREAS, delay in construction of the improvement to the South Tahoe treatment plant will increase the risk of pollution of the waters of Lake Tahoe. NOW, THEREFORE, be it RESOLVED, that the Board of Directors of the South Tahoe Public Utility District urge the U. S. Congress to approve appropriations in the amount of $2.4 billion for the 1982 Construction Grants Program. AND, FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of Directors of the South Tahoe Public Utility District urges the President and the Administration to act expeditiously in securing the 1982 Construction Grants Program Appropriations. 1 JAMF?S R.
