4b►► A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING FOR EMPLOYMENT OF
AN ASSISTANT ENGINEER
BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Directors of the SOUTH TAHOE
PUBLIC UTILITY DISTRICT, El Dorado County, State of California, as
follows:
1. The professional position of Assistant Engineer is hereby
created. The job description and minimum qualifications are as set
forth on Exhibit "A" attached hereto and made part of this Resolution.
2. The monthly salary of the Assistant Engineer shall be
Nine - Hundred Dollars ($900,00) per month.
3. The provisions of Ordinance No. 162, as amended, or
hereafter amended, are applicable to the position of Assistant Engineer

yOB DFSCRIPTION - ASSISTANT ENGINEER
DESCRIPTION: Under supervision of the General Manager, is responsible for
e.:oordinating all operational activities of the treatment plant and its laboratory; performs
responsible engineering, technical, and administrative work and related duties as required.
Requires responsibility for:
1. Interpreting, carrying out, and coordinating plant operations, methods and
processes to assure maximum treatment efficiency and maintenance of
stated treatment objectives.
2. Developing new operating processes and operating techniques.
3. Making regular contacts with other divisions and outside agencies relative to
specialized aspects of plant operations.
4. Design and inspection of construction projects not requiring services of a
consulting engineer.
5. Conducting laboratory, pilot plant, and plant scale tests of new treatment
processes.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
1. Continuously reviews plant operations both physically and through evaluation
of operating reports and laboratory tests, in order to evaluate plant perfor-
mance and to determine the need for changes in methods of processes.
2. Plans, assigns and supervises studies of plant operations, and research into
new methods or processes, and evaluates the results of such studies and
their application to plant operations.
3. Plans and reviews, with others, maintenance procedures and repairs necessary
to operate equipment.
4. Reviews the expenditure of funds allocated for plant operation and maintenance,
and makes recommendations for future expenditures.
5. Participates in the preparation of plant budget and in the maintenance of records
and preparation of operational reports.
6. Supervises, trains and rates the performance of the plant operating staff.
7. Performs engineering survey, design, inspection ,and test work on sewer exten-
sions, plant additions, and other miscellaneous construction projects.
8. Assists the General Manager in his duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
TRAINING: Requires a Master's Degree in civil, sanitary, or chemical engineering.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: Requires knowledge of the bacteriological and chemical
treatment of sewage treatment plant operation, laboratory testing procedures, and engineer-
ing design and construction.
Requires ability to: analyze technical plant operating problems and todetermine proper
remedial action; plan, assign and supervise the activities of subordinate personnel; apply
engineering principles and pratices to plant operating problems; perform engineering design.
