RESOLUTION NO. 14 c3
A RESOLUTION STATING THE SOUTH TAHOE PUBLIC
UTILITY DISTRICT'S POSITION ON THE PROPOSED
MORATORIUM ON ALL DEVELOPMENT AT LAKE TAHOE
At its adjourned regular meeting on December 11, 1969, the Board of
Directors of the South Tahoe Public Utility District adopted the following
Resolution:
WHEREAS, the California and Nevada Tahoe Regional Planning Agencies
are discussing the feasibility and desirability of a moratorium on all building at
the North Shore or the South Shore, or both, and
WHEREAS, the adequacy of the facilities of the South Tahoe Public Utility
District have an important bearing on this discussion, and,
WHEREAS, the South Tahoe Public Utility District has in operation a
collection, treatment, and export system which has a capacity of 7 1/2 million
gallons per day, and,
WHEREAS, this system has been in operation continuously since March 31,
1968, and
WHEREAS, this system complies fully with each and every requirement of
all local, state and federal water pollution control agencies, and,
WHEREAS, sewer service is now available to over 90 percent of the
service area and will become available to the remaining 10 percent on or before
January 1, 1972 to all developed or developable land in the District's service
area from Stateline to Emerald Bay, and
WHEREAS, the District's system of collection, treatment, and export has
sufficient capacity to properly handle not only the present load, but all future
loads expected to develop within at least the next ten years, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, by the South Tahoe Public Utility District that there is
no reason whatever from the standpoint of sewage collection, treatment, or export,
to place a moratorium on development within the South Shore area from Stateline
to Emerald Bay.
