The Board of Directors of the South Tahoe Public Utility District met in
an adjourned session, March 23, 1989, 4:00 PM, City Council Chambers,
1900 Lake Tahoe Boulevard.

Chairman Mason stated he had discussed
the basis of the fines with Oz Butter-
field, Lahontan RWQCB, and further
suggested exhibits be readied for the
Lahontan Board meeting in Susanville
on April 13, 14, 1989.

Director Sincliar stated his concerns
because the proposed fine money would
not stay in the Tahoe Basin to help
correct the problem causing the spills.
Attorney Weidman outlined his reasoning
for mitigation of the Lahontan fines,
e.g., mitigate fine by immediate corrective
action on the source of the problem, which
the District did.
It was the consensus of the Board to have
Manager Cofer gather the exhibits/infor-
mation for review by our Board at the
4/6/89 Board meeting.
