Notice (Res. of Inten. 72) KWHW:EAW: jm 8/13/56/6 NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS OR BIDS PROJECT NO. 56-1 Pursuant to the Municipal Improvement Act of 1913, as amended, and the resolution directing this notice adopted on August 8, 1956, by the Board of Directors of the South Tahoe Public Utility District said District invites sealed proposals or bids for the construction of sewers as more particularly described in Resolution of Intention No. 72 adopted by said Board on ~ ----_..~..,....-._-,.._"._,.,......".... .......--....-.-..--. .~..._..,_....-_..._..~.-._-._._--_._.__...: August 8, 1956, which resolutions are on file in the office of the Secretary and to which reference is hereby expressly made for a more particular description of the work to be done. All of said work is to be done at the places and in the particular locations, of the forms, sizes and dimensions and of the materials, and to the lines and grades and at the elevations a shown and delineated upon the plans, profiles and specifications made therefor and preliminarily approved by said Board on August 8, 1956. Payments will be made in cash by said District to the contractor on itemized estimates duly certified and approved by the Engineer of said District, based on labor and materials in- corporated into said work during the preceding month by the con- tractor. However, notice is given that a period of 30 days is . given to the property owners in which to pay their assessments, and if cash collections are insufficient to meet such monthly estimates, there will be a delay of about 60 days in making such payments until money is received from the sale of the bonds issued upon the unpaid assessments. The District shall retain ten per cent (10%) of the amount of each such estimates, and the accumulation of said amounts so retained from said progressive payments will be paid to said contractor 35 days after the comple- tion and acceptance of said work by said Board of Directors and said District. Notice is hereby given that on August 8, 1956, the Board of Directors adopted a resolution determining the general prevail- ing rate of per diem wage to be paid to the various craftsmen and laborers required to construct said improvements, a copy of which wage scale is contained in and made a part of the specifications for said work, to which reference is hereby made for further particulars. All proposals or bids shall be accompanied by a certified or cashier's check payable to the order of the District, amounting to ten per cent of the bid, or by a bond in said amount and payabl to said District, signed by the bidder and a corporate surety, or by the bidder and two sureties who shall justify before any offi- cer competent to administer an oath, in double said amount and over and above all statutory exemptions. Said check shall be forfeited or said bond shall become payable to said District in case the bidder depositing the same does not, within 15 days after written notice that the contract has been awarded to him, enter into a contract with the District. Contractor shall furnish to District a faithful performanc bond and labor and material bond as required in said specificatio Said sealed proposals shall be delivered ,to the Secretary of said District on or before 2:00 o'clock P.M. of the lOth say of September, 1956, at the regular meeting place of said Board, Bijou Theater, Bijou, California, said time being at least ten da from the time of publication of this notice. Bids will be publicl opened, examined and declared on said day and hour. A copy of the plans and specifications may be obtained from the office of the Secretary or from Brown and Caldwell, 66 Mint Street, San Francisco, California, upon deposit therefor of $10.00 of which $5.00 will be refunded if said plans and specifications are returned within 15 days.
