Resolution 2962-14 � RESOLUTION NO. 2962-14 2 A RESOLUTION BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE SOUTH TAHOE PUBLIC UTILITY DISTRICT IN SUPPORT OF PROPOSITION 1 - 3 THE WATER QUALITY, SUPPLY AND INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENT ACT OF 2014 4 WHEREAS, California is in a severe, multi-year drought and faces a growing list of 5 challenges associated with aging infrastructure, climate change, population growth and other factors; and 6 WHEREAS, water managers and top leaders including Governor Jerry Brown 7 agree that we need a comprehensive, statewide water plan to create a more resilient $ water system and meet the coequal goals of improved water supply reliability and ecosystem health; and 9 WHEREAS, the Legislature has approved and Governor Jerry Brown has signed 10 the Water Quality, Supply and Infrastructure Improvement Act of 2014, which will 11 appear as Proposition 1 on the November 4 ballot and provide much-needed funding to advance a statewide comprehensive water plan to secure our water future; and 12 13 WHEREAS, if approved by voters, the measure would provide $7.545 billion in bond funding for new surface and groundwater storage projects, regional water 14 reliability, sustainable groundwater management and cleanup, water recycling, water conservation, watershed protection and safe drinking water, particularly for 15 disadvantaged communities, and other programs and the Association of California 16 Water Agencies and its members have long advocated as a part of a statewide comprehensive plan; and 17 WHEREAS, ACWA's Board of Directors voted unanimously to formatly support 18 Proposition 1 in a special rr�eeting on August 19, 2014; �9 NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Directors of the South Tahoe 20 Public Utility District formally supports Proposition 1, the Water Quality, Supply and Infrastructure Improvement Act of 2014, on the November ballot. 21 22 WE, THE UNDERSIGNED, do hereby certify that the above and foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Board of Directors of the 23 South Tahoe Public Utility District at a regular meeting duly held on the 19th day of September, 2014, by the following vote: 24 25 AYES: Cefalu, Jones, Vogelgesang, Sheehan, Schafer 26 NOES: None 27 ABSENT: None 28 Eric Schafer, oar resident 29 � ATTEST: 30 Melonie Guttry, Clerk of the oard
