WHEREAS, water is Lake Tahoe's most precious natural
6 resource, and;
7 WHEREAS, California has experienced six consecutive years
8 of Drought, and;
9 WHEREAS, the drought has demonstrated the significance of
10 water to the health and welfare of our forests and our
II community, and;
12 WHEREAS, to ensure an ample supply of good quality water
13 for our residents and visitors, we must work together in our
community to effectively conserve and protect the local water
resource, and;
WHEREAS, during the month of May, the South Tahoe Public
utility District and the three other local water purveyors--
Tahoe Keys Water Company, Lukins Bros. Water Company, and
Lakeside Mutual Water company--work diligently to increase the
fundamental understanding of water in our community;
NOW THEREFORE, I, Lou Pierini, Chairman of the Board of
Directors, do declare May 1992 as Water Awareness Month and
urge all citizens to join with me in supporting local water
organizations in their effort to help Californians be water
aware.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a duly held regular meeting of the
Board of Directors of the south Tahoe Public utility District
