CONNECTIONS, AND FIRE HYDRANT INSTALLATIONS AND TRANSFERS, SHALL ONLY BE MADE AFTER
TESTING AND DISINFECTION REQUIREMENTS ARE SATISFACTORILY MET. THE CONTRACTOR
BE RESPONSIBLE TO PROVIDE ALL BLOW OFFS NECESSARY FOR FLUSHING AND SAMPLING ALL NEW
MAINS AS REQUIRED BY THE PROJECT SPECIFICATIONS,
THE NEW WATER MAINS ARE PLACED INTO SERVICE, THE EXISTING WATER MAINS, WHERE SHOWN ON
DRAWINGS, ARE TO BE ABANDONED IN PLACE BY CUTTING OUT A SECTION OF PIPE AND
A CAP DN THE END DF PIPELINE, DR OTHER APPROVED METHOD OF CAPPING. BLANK -FLANGE
SHALL BE UTILIZED WHERE POSSIBLE. ALL EXPOSED CORPORATION STOPS ON THE EXISTING
MAINS ARE TO BE LEFT IN PLACE IN THE CLOSED POSITION, FOR CORPORATION STOPS THAT HAVE
EXPOSED, THE CAPPING OF THE END DF THE SERVICE LINE USING AN APPROVED COMPRESSION
SHALL BE ACCEPTABLE.
WATER SERVICES FOR THIS PROJECT SHALL BE ABANDONED PER NOTE NO. 11. ONLY NEW WATER
CONNECTIONS WHERE SHOWN ON THE PROJECT PLANS SHALL BE INSTALLED PER THE DISTRICTS STANDARD
AND PROJECT DRAWINGS, THE LOCATIONS DF ALL EXISTING WATER SERVICES SHALL BE VERIFIED AND
IN THE FIELD.

TO EXISTING SANITARY SEWERS, NO PIPE JOINT SHALL BE PLACED WITHIN 10 FEET OF

2. FIRE LINE SHALL BE DUCTILE IRON PIPE WITH A MINIMUM PRESSURE RATING OF 150 PSI.

3. THE NEW FIRE HYDRANT ALONG WITH ALL FITTINGS AND FIRE LINE SHALL BE FLANGED OR
WITH PRIOR APPROVAL, RESTRAINED MECHANICAL JOINTS.
4. HYDRANT SUPPORT BLOCKS SHALL HAVE A MINIMUM BEARING SURFACE OF 6 SQ. FEET.
ALL FLANGES TO BE BURIED, COAT ENTIRE ASSEMBLY WITH PETROLATUM SATURATED
FABRIC TAPE WRAP SYSTEM IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE SPECIFICATIONS, CONCRETE FOR SUPPORT
BLOCKS SHALL BE FORMED TO MAINTAIN A MINIMUM CLEARANCE OF 2" FROM FLANGE BOLTS.
5. INSTALL DUCTILE IRON PIPE AND FITTINGS IN TWO LAYERS OF POLYETHYLENE ENCASEMENT IN
ACCORDANCE WITH ANSI/AWWA A21.5/C105.
6. HYDRANT ASSEMBLY AND NEW PIPING SHALL PASS HYDRO—STATIC PRESSURE TEST AT 150 PSL
PRIOR TO BEING PLACED INTO SERVICE. ALL FIRE HYDRANTS SHALL BE TESTED UTILIZING POTABLE WATER.
WATER FOR TESTING WILL BE AVAILABLE FROM THE DISTRICT'S POTABLE WATER SYSTEM AT DESIGNATED FIRE HYDRANTS.
7. HYDRANTS SHALL BE LOCATED AS SHOWN ON THE PROJECT DRAWINGS, 2' INSIDE R.O.W. OR AS DIRECTED
BY THE DISTRICT ENGINEER AND MUST HAVE A MINIMUM OF 10' CLEARANCE FROM ANY DRIVEWAY.
THE EXACT LOCATIONS FOR THE FIRE HYDRANT INSTALLATIONS WILL BE DETERMINED IN THE FIELD.
8. HYDRANTS SHALL BE INSTALLED WITH THE BOTTOM OF THE PUMPER NOZZLE A MINIMUM OF 18 INCHES
ABOVE THE GROUND.
9. THE CONTRACTOR SHOULD NOTE THAT GROUND AND SURFACE WATER WILL BE PRESENT ALONG THE ROAD SHOULDER
AT STATION 216+65 AND MAY BE ENCOUNTERED AT OTHER INSTALLATION SITES. DURING CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY ALL
SURFACE WATER SHALL BE DIVERTED AROUND EACH EXCAVATION SITE.
10. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MOVE AND RESET EXISTING MARKER POSTS, AND RECEIVER ANCHORS TO A POINT
APPROX. 36" BEHIND NEW FIRE HYDRANTS AND PROVIDE NEW 12"X 12" METAL SIGNS WITH WHITE BACKGROUND
WITH 1 1/2" AND 2" BLACK HEAT SENSITIVE LETTERS STATING: S.T.P.U.D. - FIRE HYDRANT AND AN
APPROVED 6" HIGH SYMBOL REPRESENTATION FOR NONPOTABLE OR RECYCLED WATER. PRIOR TO INSTALLATION
ALL NEW FIRE HYDRANTS SHALL BE PAINTED THE COLOR PURPLE TO DESIGNATE "RECLAIMED WATER"
