GENTLEMEN;
SEPTEMBER 8, 1960
AT THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE SOUTH LAKE
TAHOE ROD AND GUN CLUB HELD SEPTEMBER 1, 1960
IT WAS UNANIMOUSLY VOTED TO ADVISE YOUR AGENCY
OF OUR CONCERN AND VIEWS ON THE MATTER OF
FURTHER LOSS OF WATER FROM THE UPPER TRUCKEE
RIVER. WE WISH TO VIGOROUSLY PROTEST THE
VARIOUS APPLICATIONS OF THE MEYERS WATER CO.
FOR TWELVE SECOND FEET OF WATER FROM THE UPPER
TRUCKEE RIVER AND ITS TRIBUTARIES.
THIS CLUB HAS BEEN ACTIVELY ENGAGED IN
IMPROVEMENT OF THE RIVERS, STREAMS AND THEIR
TRIBUTARIES IN THE SOUTH TAHOE AREA FOR THE PAST
SEVERAL YEARS. OUR MAIN OBJECTIVE HAS BEEN TO
IMPROVE SPAWNING CAPABILITIES AND THEREBY INCREASE
FISHING FOR THOUSANDS OF SPORTSMAN.
FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS THE WATER TABLE IN
THE TRUCKEE HAS DROPPED TO A BARE TRICKLE WHICH
IS BARELY ENOUGH FLOW TO KEEP THE WATER FROM
STAGNATING. SHOULD THE METERS WATER CO. BE
SUCCESSFUL IN OBTAINING ANY WATER FROM THIS STREAM,
THERE WILL BE NO WATER FLOWING AND THE RESULTING
STAGNATION WOULD NULIFY THE EFFORTS OF THIS CLUB,
THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT AOF.FTSH AND GAME, AND
THE PRIVATE LAND OWNERS' WHO HAVE SPENT CONSIDERABLE
MONEY AND EFFORT ON EROSION CONTROL SAND IMPROVEMENT
OF THE STREAMS FOR SPAWNING PURPOSES.

OF THIS MANN TRIBUTARY TO LAKE TAHOE.
SINCERELY YOURS,
