RE_ Liquid GAC Water Remediation Field Test - Request for QuaoteFrom:Ivo Bergsohn To:"Benjamin Goecke" Subject:RE: Liquid GAC Water Remediation Field Test - Request for Quaote Date:Monday, November 20, 2017 8:09:04 AM Hi Benjamin- Thanks for providing the quote; at this time, I will use it for budgetary guidance purposes. The project is still in the planning stage; I will let you know when we have a project schedule and are ready to issue a PO for this work. Here's the info you requested: 2 Units$8,784.05 to deliver the units with GAC to the site.$1,170 per month (starting after the first month)$2,000 demobilization fee 3 Units$12,593.19 to deliver the units with GAC to the site$1,755 per month (starting after the first month$3,000 demobilization fee Pricing does not include any taxes. Please note that before the units can be hauled off site, a sample of the carbon has to be sentinto our lab for analysis, which takes about 2 weeks. Let me know if you have any questions or would like to move forward! A couple of things: Typically for groundwater, no pre-filter is needed. I will check if we have anyavailable, but unless you are particularly worried about suspended solids, may be best toleave this off. OKCan you confirm the delivery zip code for freight rates? 96150It can be difficult to estimate bed volumes without an accurate projection of what else isin the water, but given the short duration of this project, we are confident you willachieve ND for PCE for the 100 hours of runtime (at 7.2 mins EBCT we would expectyou to get several months of operation provided not significant levels of TOC or otherorganics). OK, thanks Hope this helps, please get back to me as soon as you are able on the zip code. If possible, I’d appreciate quotes on the following items, including delivery, pick-up of the Vessels and spent GAC disposal; 1. 2 x TW72 GAC Vessels; 2. 3 x TW72 GAC Vessels; 3. Pre-Filter per canister. I’m assuming a design flow of about 75 gpm/vessel (EBCT = ~ 7.2 minutes). By the way, for a 72 cu ft GAC volume, how many bed volumes of PCE-contaminated water does a Calgon TW72 treat? Feel free to call me, if any questions. FrancoSubject: Re: Liquid GAC Water Remediation Field Test - Request for Quaote Hey Ivo, Good questions. If you ran 100 gpm through the 2,000 lb unit, you'd be looking at 5minutes of EBCT. While this is on the low side (we'd typically try to stay above 7.5 minutes for PCE), given the short duration, I'd expect you to be okay (ND for the durationof the 100 hours). If you wanted to be on the safe, side, you could either get three units or slow the flow to 66 gpm per unit. I apologize, but we are not able to provide freeze protection, that'd have to come fromsomeone else. Let me know how many units you think you'll want and I can work up a quote. I also have a couple of questions; 1. The Data Sheet offers variable amounts of LGAC for treatment. Using a 200 gpm flow with an influent PCE concentration of 50 ppb pumping for 100 hours, I estimated the contaminant mass at about 0.5 lbs of PCE. How much LGAC would you recommend the District order to adsorb this contaminant mass? Can you provide supporting calcs? 2. Also, any thoughts on freeze protection for these portable canisters. Does Calgon offer any blankets/heat tape options? FrancoSubject: Re: Liquid GAC Water Remediation Field Test - Request for Quaote Hello Ivo, Thanks again for reaching out on this. Upon further investigation, I've found a much bettersolution than the two we discussed on Friday. Please find attached a cut sheet on our ProTect TW units. The TW 72 can handle 80-100 gpm, so you could either scale the flow back or run two in parallel. The cost is $575 per unit per month, and there is a $575 per unit initial placement fee. These prices do not include freight or GAC, but figure the GAC would cost about $1.50 or so per lb. If this seems okay to you, let me know and I can prepare a quote that wouldinclude these items. Any questions, let me know! The South Tahoe Public Utility District is planning to conduct a field test in support of an engineering Feasibility Study to identify the most cost-effective means of mitigating achlorinated hydrocarbon contaminant plume. The field test would involve the performance of a short-term groundwater pumping test at a site in South Lake Tahoe, California. Forplanning purposes, the pumping test would be performed at a maximum flowrate of about 200 gallons per minute (GPM), with an expected contaminant influent [tetrachloroethylene(PCE)] concentration of about 50 µg/L. Discharge to the sanitary sewer will require removal of PCE from the extracted groundwater to below drinking water standards (5 µg/L). Thetotal duration of the pumping test is estimated at about 100 hours. Can you please contact me to discuss the equipment and water treatment services Calgon could provide for this field test.
