Here’s the information you asked for: Turbidity in water is not the same as Total Suspended Solids that are used to look at bag filter
fouling, so the following info is based on an average Total Suspended Solids concentration of100 mg/L:
Using - 50-Micron standard efficiency bags.
• Bag filter – clean, 50 gpm 2.0 PSI head loss.
• Bag filter – clean, 100 gpm 4.0 PSI head loss.• Bag filter – dirty, 50 gpm 7-10 PSI head loss.
• Bag filter – dirty, 100 gpm 8-12 PSI head loss.• 1 GAC unit, 4” NPT, 50 gpm: 1.5 PSI head loss.
• 1 GAC unit, 4” NPT, 100 gpm: 2.5 PSI head loss.
Also, at what pressure will the bag filters require change out? - When there is a 7-10 PSIpressure differential inlet to outlet.
do you anticipate that we’ll need to change out the bags during the project? - 36,000 gallons
using 100 mg/L Total Suspended Solids is: [0.036 x 100 x 8.34] about 30 pounds of solids; the#2 size bag filters, 50-Micron standard efficiency, will hold up to 4 pounds of solids each
[depending on the type of suspended solids and particle-micron size], so the 4-chamber systemcan hold up to 16 pounds of TSS; they may need to have one or two change outs of the bags if
the Total Suspended solids at 100 mg/L or if needed to maintain effluent TSS limits, youshould have 16 fresh 50-micron standard efficiency bags on hand for that contingency.
