Vinciguerra crew is setting up to excavate across Bowers ave towards Bobby Grey also connecting 2 water main pipes at Blackwood and Fairway ave. A Cat 314C was used to dig the trench for the new 8” C 900 water pipe on east side of Bowers The crew placed 6” of aggregate base to be used as bedding with pipe placed on top of it. They then placed base up to spring line and water jet it to make sure there were no voids under the pipe. 1’ of aggregate base was then placed over the pipe and compacted by jumping jack whackers. 95% of the maximum dry density is required on base and testing was performed. The maximum dry density of the base is a 132.6 at 7.2% moisture as provided by CME on 5-18-22. The results of the testing can be found in this report. The native material that was placed was also tested using a 119.6 maximum dry density and 11.5% moisture. These numbers were also provided by the CME laboratory. Results for this testing can also be found in this report. Although the specifications call for 95% had been informed by Adrian with STPUD that 90% would be satisfactory on the intermediate backfill. A compaction wheel attached to an excavator was used for compaction efforts. Vinciguerra crew placed 82’ of 8” DR18 pipe and 15’ of 6” DR18 pipe for new hydrant at corner of Bobby Grey and Bowers near 1108 Bowers ave. Also completed connecting the 2 water main pipes at Blackwood and Fairway ave.
