Arrived on Fairway at 8:00am and as crew prepared to head south on Fairway. The Vinciguerra crew (1 operator, Jim and 7 Underground Utility Pipe Fitters, 1 Truck Driver) arrived began to peel asphalt off of Fairway. Approximately 250’ was peeled off and existing utilities were pot holed prior to the the excavation beginning. While one of the excavators worked on peeling the asphalt and digging new trench another excavator (Casey operator) was working on cleaning up the rest of the trench that had been flooded. The storm drain was removed, it had been found and declared abandoned on Thursday but never got removed. One section of pipe was removed from trench as it did not have minimum cover, the trench was regraded from that point. The crew placed 6” of aggregate base to be used as bedding under the C900 DR 18 or DR14, pipe placed on top of it. The DR 14 is used in conjunction with bell restraints where we go under the sewer or where we are within 10’ of sewer mainline. They then placed base up to spring line and water jetted it to make sure there were no voids under the pipe. 1’ of aggregate base was then placed over the pipe and compacted by jumping jack whackers. 95% of the maximum dry density is required on base and testing was performed. The maximum dry density of the base is a 132.6 at 7.2% moisture as provided by CME on 5-18-22. The results of the testing can be found in this report. The native material that was placed was also tested using a 119.6 maximum dry density and 11.5% moisture. These numbers were also provided by the CME laboratory. Results for this testing can also be found in this report as well as 1 from Thursday that was back calculated. Although the the specifications call for 95% had been informed by Adrian with STPUD that 90% would be satisfactory on the intermediate backfill. A compaction wheel attached to an excavator was used for compaction efforts. A sewer lateral was hit for 3506 Blackwood (runs on Fairway line) contractor fixed and moved on. Saddles were installed along with services run to 5 meters and the STPUD Test Station at 16+85 Lt Fairway. 2 of the services were long side and the mole was used on these so as not to disturb the asphalt, an air compressor was used to slowly move the mole across street into recently excavated trench. Poly pipe was then attached to the mole and pulled back along with tracer wire. Departed site 1800 as crew continued clean up.
