Arrived on Fairway at 8:00am as crew moved back to Deer to continue excavation. They started today at 1135 Fairway, where service break had stopped them yesterday. The excavation ended at 1161 Fairway where they will continue in the morning. The Vinciguerra crew (1 operator, Jim and 9 Underground Utility Pipe Fitters, 1 Truck Driver) arrived and continued south on Fairway. A Cat 314C was used to dig the trench for the new 8” C 900 water pipe. The crew placed 6” of aggregate base to be used as bedding under the C900 DR 18 or DR14, with pipe placed on top of it. The DR 14 is used in conjunction with bell restraints where we center it under the sewer or where we are within 10’ of sewer mainline. They then placed base up to spring line and water jet it to make sure there were no voids under the pipe. 1’ of aggregate base was then placed over the pipe and compacted by jumping jack whackers. 95% of the maximum dry density is required on base and testing was performed. The maximum dry density of the base is a 132.6 at 7.2% moisture as provided by CME on 5-18-22. The results of the testing can be found in this report. The native material that was placed was also tested using a 119.6 maximum dry density and 11.5% moisture. These numbers were also provided by the CME laboratory. Results for this testing can also be found in this report. Although the the specifications call for 95% had been informed by Adrian with STPUD that 90% would be satisfactory on the intermediate backfill. A compaction wheel attached to an excavator was used for compaction efforts. 240’ of C900 DR 18 and 60’ of C900 DR 14 was placed along Fairway and backfilled along with 3 short and 3 long side services. The short services were located at 1139, 1145 Fairway and 3501 Pinecrest, with the long sides being located at 1134, 1140, 1144 Fairway. The long service at 1150 Fairway was met with refusal, it will have to be saw cut and dug out. Sand was placed around the poly pipe prior to backfill to help protect the pipe. The contractor hopes to use the existing poly on the short side services, waiting for answer from Adrian with STPUD. A fire hydrant was set at station 23+13 Lt Fairway, but was not completed as drain rock and a kicker on the hydrant are still needed. The valve cluster at 5he intersection of Fairway and Pine rest was also set but also needs kickers. Saddles and services run to 1134, 1140, 1144 Fairway (long), the short services were located at 1145, 1139, Fairway and 3501 Pinecrest. The contractor hopes to connect the short side services when tie in is completed and they can cut the existing poly pipe and feed that into their saddle. The Vinciguerra crew consisted of Jim, operator, Art, Thomas, Chris, Dave, Arron, Chris, and Kieth, Colin, Morgan, Sergio, Boone and Alex underground utility pipe fitters. Wayne and Casey Vinciguerra were also onsite. The fire hydrant was set at station 23+13 Lt Fairway with the kicker poured but no drain rock or fabric placed. A valve cluster of 3, 8” gate valves was also set, this at station 23+67 Lt Fairway this was plated and will receive kickers tomorrow.
