Arrived on Fairway at 8:00am as crew moved to Pinecrest and headed east. They also continued down Fairway towards Glenwood. The excavation ended at 1175 Fairway where they will continue in the morning. The Vinciguerra crew (1 operator, Jim and 9 Underground Utility Pipe Fitters, 1 Truck Driver) arrived and continued south on Fairway. The crew also went east on Pinecrest placing DR 14 due to proximity to existing sewer. A Cat 314C was used to dig the trench for the new 8” C 900 water pipe. The crew placed 6” of aggregate base to be used as bedding under the C900 DR 18 or DR14, with pipe placed on top of it. The DR 14 is used in conjunction with bell restraints where we center it under the sewer or where we are within 10’ of sewer mainline. They then placed base up to spring line and water jet it to make sure there were no voids under the pipe. 1’ of aggregate base was then placed over the pipe and compacted by jumping jack whackers. 95% of the maximum dry density is required on base and testing was performed. The maximum dry density of the base is a 132.6 at 7.2% moisture as provided by CME on 5-18-22. The results of the testing can be found in this report. The native material that was placed was also tested using a 119.6 maximum dry density and 11.5% moisture. These numbers were also provided by the CME laboratory. Results for this testing can also be found in this report. Although the the specifications call for 95% had been informed by Adrian with STPUD that 90% would be satisfactory on the intermediate backfill. A compaction wheel attached to an excavator was used for compaction efforts. 140’ of C900 DR 18 and 40’ C900 DR 14 was placed along Fairway and backfilled along with 1 short and 4 long side services. The short service was located at 1175 Fairway, with the long sides being located at 1154, 1158, 1160 and 1162 Fairway. Sand was placed around the poly pipe prior to backfill to help protect the pipe. The contractor also placed 47’ of DR 14 on Pinecrest (87’ total of DR 14) where a testing cap was placed and will be tied into existing after testing. Departed site 1830 as crew continued clean up. The Vinciguerra crew consisted of Jim, operator, Art, Thomas, Chris, Dave, Arron, Chris, and Kieth, Colin, Morgan, Sergio, and Alex underground utility pipe fitters. Wayne and Casey Vinciguerra were also onsite.
