Arrived on Fairway at 8:00am as crew continued on Fairway and headed east toward Glenwood. The excavation began at 1189 Fairway and ended at 1213 Fairway. The Vinciguerra crew (1 operator, Jim and 9 Underground Utility Pipe Fitters, 1 Truck Driver) arrived and continued south on Fairway. A Cat 314C was used to dig the trench for the new 8” C 900 water pipe. The crew placed 6” of aggregate base to be used as bedding under the C900 DR 18 or DR14, with pipe placed on top of it. The DR 14 is used in conjunction with bell restraints where we center it under the sewer or where we are within 10’ of sewer mainline. They then placed base up to spring line and water jet it to make sure there were no voids under the pipe. 1’ of aggregate base was then placed over the pipe and compacted by jumping jack whackers. 95% of the maximum dry density is required on base and testing was performed. The maximum dry density of the base is a 132.6 at 7.2% moisture as provided by CME on 5-18-22. The results of the testing can be found in this report. The native material that was placed was also tested using a 119.6 maximum dry density and 11.5% moisture. These numbers were also provided by the CME laboratory. Results for this testing can also be found in this report. Although the the specifications call for 95% had been informed by Adrian with STPUD that 90% would be satisfactory on the intermediate backfill. A compaction wheel attached to an excavator was used for compaction efforts. 240’ of C900 DR 18, 40’ of C900 DR 14 was placed along Fairway and backfilled along with 4 short and 3 long side services. The short services was located at 1193, 1197, 1201, 1213 Fairway, with the long sides being located at 1190, 1198, and 1202 Fairway. Sand was placed around the poly pipe prior to backfill to help protect the pipe. Also transported to the CME laboratory a set of grout cylinders from the Keller tank site that had been taken by Garth with STPUD. The set of 4, 4x8” cylinders were transported, stripped, logged and placed in a climate controlled room to await testing. Departed site 1830 as crew continued clean up. Casey Vinciguerra was also onsite. Equipment onsite- 2 Cat 314C excavators, Cat 304E mini excavator, John Deere 210 skip loader, Cat 299D skid steer, 4 10 wheelers 240’ of DR 18 was placed along with 40’ of DR 14 were placed today with the DR 14 being centered under 2 sewer laterals. 7 services were installed today 4 short and 3 long. The short services were located at 1193, 1197, 1201, and 1213 with the lions ones located at 1190. 1198 and 1202 all on Fairway. Sewer laterals were hit and fixed at 1193 and 1213 Fairway. Pin hole leaks were discovered in existing water services at 1193 and 1205 Fairway when excavated. STPUD was called and Herb arrived onsite and was able to temporarily fix both. The temporary fix was appropriate as the system will be tied over to new main and services with in a couple of weeks.
