Arrived on Fairway at 8:00am as crew continued on Fairway and headed east toward Glenwood. The excavation began at 1213 Fairway and ended at the Fairway and Glenwood intersection. The crew took one lane of traffic and had flaggers set up to aid in traffic control. The Vinciguerra crew (1 operator, Jim and 9 Underground Utility Pipe Fitters, 1 Truck Driver) arrived and continued on Fairway. A Cat 314C was used to dig the trench for the new 8” C 900 water pipe. The crew placed 6” of aggregate base to be used as bedding under the C900 DR 18 or DR14, with pipe placed on top of it. The DR 14 is used in conjunction with bell restraints where we center it under the sewer or where we are within 10’ of sewer mainline. They then placed base up to spring line and water jet it to make sure there were no voids under the pipe. 1’ of aggregate base was then placed over the pipe and compacted by jumping jack whackers. 95% of the maximum dry density is required on base and testing was performed. The maximum dry density of the base is a 132.6 at 7.2% moisture as provided by CME on 5-18-22. The results of the testing can be found in this report. The native material that was placed was also tested using a 119.6 maximum dry density and 11.5% moisture. These numbers were also provided by the CME laboratory. Results for this testing can also be found in this report. Although the the specifications call for 95% had been informed by Adrian with STPUD that 90% would be satisfactory on the intermediate backfill. A compaction wheel attached to an excavator was used for compaction efforts. 148’ of C900 DR 18, was placed along Fairway and backfilled along with 2 short and 3 long side services. The short services was located at 1205 Fairway and 1168 Glenwood with the long sides being located at 1178 Glenwood and 1212, 1206 Fairway. Sand was placed around the poly pipe prior to backfill to help protect the pipe. A 2” steel waterline was discovered on the east side of Glenwood running north/south at the edge of asphalt. It is believed to be abandoned but was requested to drill into first, with repair coupling onsite prior to cutting out of the way. The main appears to run parallel approximately 9’ east. This area was plated until further investigation could be completed. Departed site 1800 as crew continued clean up. Casey Vinciguerra was also onsite. Equipment onsite- 2 Cat 314C excavators, Cat 304E mini excavator, John Deere 210 skip loader, Cat 299D skid steer, 4 10 wheelers 147’ of DR 18 was placed today along Fairway into intersection with Glenwood. 5 services were installed today 2 short and 3 long. The short services were located at 1205 Fairway and 1168 Glenwood, with the long ones located at 1178, 1212, and 1206 all on Fairway. Water was noticed puddling up between 1197 and 1201 Fairway where services had been installed yesterday. Nothing was noticed last night or earlier today in this area. STPUD was called and found that a service was pulled slightly off the main, they fixed it and we backfilled it. 1 set of 4, 4x8” grout cylinders were transported to the laboratory where they will be logged, stripped and placed into a climate controlled room to await testing. The cylinders were taken by Garth with STPUD who requested breaks 1 at 3 days, 1 at 7 days and 2 at 28 days.
