Arrived on Fairway at 8:00am as crew continued on Fairway and headed east toward Glenwood. The excavation today began at 3533 Blackwood and ended in the Glenwood intersection. The crew also worked in the Deer and Glenwood intersection extending the pipe closer to the tie in on the east side of Glenwood. The Vinciguerra crew (1 operator, Jim and 9 Underground Utility Pipe Fitters, 1 Truck Driver) arrived and continued on Fairway. A Cat 314C was used to dig the trench for the new 8” C 900 water pipe. The crew placed 6” of aggregate base to be used as bedding under the C900 DR 18 or DR14, with pipe placed on top of it. The DR 14 is used in conjunction with bell restraints where we center it under the sewer or where we are within 10’ of sewer mainline. They then placed base up to spring line and water jet it to make sure there were no voids under the pipe. 1’ of aggregate base was then placed over the pipe and compacted by jumping jack whackers. 95% of the maximum dry density is required on base and testing was performed. The maximum dry density of the base is a 132.6 at 7.2% moisture as provided by CME on 5-18-22. The results of the testing can be found in this report. The native material that was placed was also tested using a 119.6 maximum dry density and 11.5% moisture. These numbers were also provided by the CME laboratory. Results for this testing can also be found in this report. Although the the specifications call for 95% had been informed by Adrian with STPUD that 90% would be satisfactory on the intermediate backfill. A compaction wheel attached to an excavator was used for compaction efforts. 146’ of C900 DR 18, was placed, 112’ on Blackwood and 34’ on Deer and was backfilled along with 4 short and 3 long side services. The short services was located at 1112 Glenwood, and 3519, 3511, 3507, and Cloverdale with the long sides being located at 3533 Blackwood and 3524, 3514 Cloverdale. The AT&T line was located in the Blackwood intersection 15” below top of asphalt. The mainline water was looked for at both excavations but was not found. A call was made to James Cullen with STPUD and a message was left asking if we could get a locate on the 6” main. Received a call back and was told they could come by in the morning. Departed site 1800 as crew continued clean up. Casey Vinciguerra was also onsite. Equipment onsite- 2 Cat 314C excavators, Cat 304E mini excavator, John Deere 210 skip loader, Cat 299D skid steer, 4 10 wheelers 146’ of DR 18 was placed today between Blackwood and Deer into intersection with Glenwood. 5 services were installed today 4 short and 3 long. The short services were located at 1112 Glenwood, 3519, 3511, 3507 Cloverdale, with the long ones located at 3533 Blackwood, 3524, 3514 Cloverdale. Base was used for backfill all the way up today as we were in heavy traffic areas. 1 set of 3, 4x8” grout cylinders were transported to the laboratory where they will be logged, stripped and placed into a climate controlled room to await testing. The cylinders were taken by Garth with STPUD who requested breaks 1 at 2 days, 1 at 7 days and 1 at 28 days.
