CME personnel arrived onsite to perform observation and testing as the Vinciguerra crew continued to work on
the Bowers and Bijou waterline replacement projects.
Arrived onsite at 8:00am and was informed that contractor planned to split the crew up with some headed to Bill
to switch services over from the old to the new line. A mini excavator was used to dig down and expose the old
and the new service. What the crew performed were called poly drops where there was already a poly line used for
the service, what they did was cut the line and insert it into the saddle and corpse top that had been installed when
the new mainline was placed. The ok was given by Adrian to perform these tie ins at these addresses. They were
performed at 3586, 3590 and 3592 all on Bill.
The other members of the crew went to continue patch excavation and preparation on Fairway where paving
was to take place today. Compaction efforts were performed by a jumping jack whacker and density testing was
performed on various patches. Asphalt arrived onsite approximately 10:45am and patching began soon after. The
started with 1130 and 1150 Fairway as they extended into the street and they wanted to lessen the impact to traffic.
15.09 tons was picked up from Tahoe Asphalt and placed. The crew went through that sent the truck back to get
another 14.89 tons for a total of 29.98 tons. The mix had a product ID of 2000 1/2’’ HMA. The crew did not have
enough mix to finish the top lift on all the patches and they were informed that they would clean and re-tack prior to
placing the top lift. Was told that was not a problem.
