Daily Log:
8‐9:30am: I was not on site. Contractor prepped for the days work and additional excavation in
Herbert/Warr to expose unrestrained barrel couplers on both sides of tee.
9:30am: I arrive on site at Herbert and Warr. Chuck from STPUD heavy maintenance is on site welding
tabs to restrain barrel coupler.
10:45am: Welding restraints complete. Chuck cleans up and leaves site.
10:50am: Contractor removing portion of concrete thrust block that is covering the flange.
11am: Concrete removal complete. Valves are closed and contractor cuts into existing main and begins
dewatering at lower excavation in Herbert/Warr.
11:15am: Dewatering complete. Contractor cuts existing main to be abandoned at excavation in
Herbert/Pioneer Trail.
11:20am: Begins unbolting flange on tee.
11:40am: Contractor installing blind flange on tee.
Noon: Abandonment complete. Blind flanges are installed on tee at Herbert/Warr and on abandoned
gate valve in Herbert/Pioneer Trail.
12:15‐12:45pm: Contractor takes lunch
1pm: Begin backfilling excavation in Herbert/Pioneer Trail. Abandoned main has been capped with
concrete plug.
1:30pm: Begins backfilling excavation in Herbert/Warr.
4:10pm: Contractor has completed backfill and temporary AC in both excavations. Herbert has been
reopened. Contractor is moving traffic control materials to Janet/Pioneer Trail for abandoning valve
tomorrow.
4:30pm: Contractor finished for the day.
