AN ORDINANCE CALLING A SPECIAL ELECTION
IN THE SOUTH TAHOE PUBLIC UTILITY DISTRICT
FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE
QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THE DISTRICT THE
PROPOSITION OF THE DISTRICTS ACQUIRING AND
IMPROVING PRIVATE WATER WORKS FOR THE PIR POSE
OF SUPPLYING ITS INHABITANTS WITH WATER SERVICE
BE IT ENACTED, by the Board of Directors of the South Tahoe
Public Utility District, E1 Dorado County, California, as follows:
WHEREAS, this Board has formulated for submission 'to the
electDrs of the District at a Special Election herein called for that purpose
a proposition for the acquisition of Public Utility Water lAforks.
WHEREAS, in formulating said proposition, the Board has
procured plans and estimates of the cost of original construction and
completion by the District of works similar to the proposed to be acquired,
together with an estimate of the revenues that can be expected from said
Public Utility Works.
WHEREAS, the Board has procured and placed on file plans and
est[mates of the cost of obtaining a sufficient supply of good pure water for
the District, and has solicited and considered offers for the sale to the District
of existing Utility Works of the same character.
WHEREAS, the Board has determined that the cost of the Public
Ut[lityWorks proposed for acquisition can be paid from revenues of the District
from the operation of its public utility in addition to the other necessary expenses
of the District.
WHEREAS, said proposition so formulated is hereinafter set forth
and submitted to the electors of the District.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED AS FOLLOWS:
1. A special District election is hereby called and ordered and
%rill be held in the South Tahoe Public Utility District on Tuesday, the 2nd
day of November 1971, at ~vhich election shall be submitted to the qualified
voters the proposition of the District's acquiring and improving private water
works for the purpose of supplying its inhabitants ~vith ~vater service.
PROPOSITION: "Shall the South Tahoe Public Utility
District acquire and improve private
~vater works for the purpose of supplying
its inhabitants with ~vater service ?"
2. The election shall be held and the votes canvassed pursuant
to law for general district elections in the District.
3. All persons qualified to vote at general district elections shall
be qualified to vote upon the propostion submitted at the special district
election hereby called.
4. Ballots for the election shall be provided of the form and to
the number provided by law. On the ballots, in addition to any other printed
matter ~vhich may be required by la~v, t~vo voting squares shall be set off to
the right of the propostion submitted at the election and set forth in Section
1 of this Ordinance, one having the word "YES" printed before it and the
other having the word "NO" printed before it.
5. Each voter to vote for the proposition shall stamp a cross
(X) in the blank space opposite the ~vord "YES" on the ballot to the right of
the proposition and against the proposition shall stamp a cross (X) in the
blank space opposite the word "NO" on the ballot to the right of the
propo s ition.
6. The polls shall be opened and closed pursuant to the
la~vs governing general district elections.

7. This Ordinance shall be published once a day for at least
seven days in a newspaper published at least six days a week within the
District or published once a week for 'two succeeding weeks in a newspaper
published less than six days a week within the District. Also this Ordinance
shall be posted at three public places within the District for two successive
weeks, and such publication and posting shall constitute notice of said
election. No other notice of the election hereby called need be given.
