AN ORDINANCE OF SOUTH TAHOE PUBLIC UTILITY DISTRICT
AMENDING BY ADDITION TO ORDINANCE NO. 360
REGULATING THE USE OF FIRE HYDRANTS
WHICH ARE UNDER DIRECT CONTROL OF
THE SOUTH TAHOE PUBLIC UTILITY DISTRICT
The purpose of'this Ordinance is to control unautho-
rized use. of District water and recover costs of use.
ARTICLE I - DEFINITIONS
For the purpose, of this Ordinance, the terms used
~ein are defined as follows:
Sec. 1.12 A Fire' Hydrant - Any valve or faucet
intended for supplying a relatively large quantity of water
for fire protection.
Sec. 1.12 B Fire Hydrant Permit -A written approval
from the District to draft water from the District's fire
hydrants on a temporary basis only.
Sec. 1.12 C Fire Hydrant Meter - A method used to
measure water on a temporary basis only.
Sec. 1.12 D Water Using Equipment - Any equipment
other than fire fighting equipment or District equipment which
has the capability to draft water from a fire hydrant.
Sec. 1.12 E Permitee -The person(s) or agency that
obtained the fire hydrant permit.
ARTICLE II - GENERAL POLICIES
Sec. 2.5 No water-using equipment may be connected
to any District fire hydrant without first obtaining a fire
hydrant permit from the District. A copy of the permit shall
be carried on the water-using equipment at all times during the
life of the permit.

All equipment shall be air gapped and/or properly protected from
cross-connections and approved by the District prior to a permit
being issued. No fire hoses shall be used in lieu of water using
equipment without prior approval of the District.
Sec. 2.6 The District shall specify the equipment to
be used, the fire hydrant(s) to be used, and the dates and time
of use.
Sec. 2.7 Ail costs and expenses incident to the use
and/or connection to the District's fire hydrant for which a
permit has been issued shall be born by the permittee. The
permittee shall indemnify the District from any loss or damage
that may directly or indirectly be occasioned by the use or
connection to any fire hydrant.
Sec. 2.8 The permit may be revoked, or suspended at
the sole discretion of the District for community or fire pro-
tection water shortage. The permit may also be revoked or sus-
pended for any violation by the permittee of conditions in his
application, the permit, or provisions of this ordinance.
ARTICLE VII - ESTABLISHMENT OF WATER RAT.ES AND CHARGES
Sec. 7.5 Permit Fee - $35.00
Sec. 7.6 Rate Fee per piece of water using equipment:
Monthly - $57.75
Quarterly - $173.25
Annually - $693.00

ARTICLE X - ENFORCEMENT OF ORDINANCE
RULES AND REGULATIONS
Sec. 10.6 Service of water to any water-using equipment
shall be immediately discontinued by the District if a permit has
not been obtained or cannot immediately be shown. Additionally,
such person shall be charged for the water used, a double permit
fee, and all administrative and legal costs and expenses. If any
person(s) are discovered for the second time drafting water withoul
a permit, they shall then be prohibited from drafting any water
any time from the District,s water system. Additionally, such
person shall be charged for the water used, a double permit fee,
and all administrative and legal costs and expenses in the enforce-
ment of the provisions of this Article X.
This ORDINANCE amends by addition Article I, Section
1.12, Article II, Section 2.5, 2.6, 2.7, 2.8, Article VII,
Sec. 7.5, 7.6, Article X Sec. 10.6 of ORDINANCE 360 of the SOUTH
TAHOE PUBLIC UTILITY DISTRICT. In all other respects, said
ORDINANCE NO. 360 passed and adopted by the Board of Directors of
Ithe SOUTH TAHOE PUBLIC UTILITY DISTRICT on December l, 1983 is
hereby ratified, confirmed and in full force and effect except as
amended.
This ORDINANCE shall take effect upon the .expiration of
thirty(30) days after its passage and shall be posted by the CLERK
of the SOUTH TAHOE PUBLIC UTILITY DISTRICT at three (3) public
places in said District at least one week before the expiration
period.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a duly held regular meeting of the
BOARD OF DIRECTORS of the South Tahoe Public Utility District
