A RESOLUTION OF SOUTH TAHCE PUBLIC UTILITY
DISTRICT REQUESTING EL DORADO COUNTY BOARD
OF SUPERVISORS TO ADOPT AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING
ALL SEWAGE OB. OTHER WASTE WITHIN THE LAKE TAHOE
WATERSHED ?E EXPORTED FROM THE TAHOE BASIN AFTER
~ANUARY l, 1970
WHEREAS, after January 1, 1970, all sewage or other waste from within the
Lake Tahoe watershed shall be placed only into sewer system and treatment facilities
sufficient to handle and treat any such sewage or waste and transportation facilities
sufficient to transport any resultant sewage effluent outside the Lake Tahoe water-
shed ko insure the protection of the clarity of the waters of Lake Tahoe from
eutrophication and permanent degradation, and,
WHEREAS, the Lahontan Regional Water Quality Control Board adopted a
Lake Tahoe Water Quality Control policy which includes the following:
"After January 1, 1970, no lands will be considered developable
for sewage producing development unless or until said lands are
within boundaries of an agency providing sewage collection treat-
ment, and export." Developable is defined in said policy as "those
lands for which sewage producing development has takmn place or is
proposed to take place within the foreseeable future."
and,
WHEREAS, the Secretary of Interior on January 9, 1969, approved the above
Lahontan Water Quality Standards and defined the Lahontan "Water Quality Control
Policy" as used by the Lahontan Board to have the same meaning as "Water Quality
Standards" as used in the Federal Water Pollution Control Act.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Directors of South Tahoe
Public Utility District, County of E1 Dorado, State of California, as follows:
1. That South Tahoe Public Utility District requests E1 Dorado County Board
of Supervisors to forthwith include in any ordinance relating to the disposal of
domestic sewage within the Lake Tahoe Basin the following provision:
After January 1, 1970, all sewage or other waste from within the Lake Tahoe
watershed shall be placed only into a sewer system and treatment facilities
sufficient to handle and treat any such sewage or waste and transportation facilities

sufficient to transport any resultant sewage effluent outside the Lake Tahoe
watershed, except that such sewage or other ~vas%e may be placed in a holding
tank which is pumped and transported to such treatment and 'transportation
facilities.
2. Certified copies of this Resolution shall be forwarded by the Clerk
of South Tahoe Public Utility District to Assemblyman Chappie, State Senator
Stephen P. Teale, and County of E1 Dorado.
PASSED and ADOPTED at a duly held meeting of the Board of
Directors of the SOUTH TAHOE PUBLIC UTILITY DISTRICT on the 24th day of April
1969, be the follo~ving vote:
